This Saturday (September 15) Toy Art Gallery celebrates its first anniversary at its Melrose location. Let me first say congratulations guys!
What a year it's been - with numerous shows, toy releases, and a blast of fresh air in the indie toy world. I was fortunate to have a chance to visit the store a few months ago. Click here for my write up, which has directions to the store, opening hours, etc.
For their anniversary show, which runs from September 15-October 8, the gallery has invited 50 artists from around the world to submit figures. It's a stellar list - a United Nations of indie toy makers including Arkiv (Indonesia), Blobpus (Japan), Hints and Spices (Australia), Emilio Garcia (Spain), Wao Toyz (Switzerland), Munktiki (USA), and many more.
There will be exclusive toy releases as well as custom figures for sale, not to mention food, drinks, and other partilicious festivities. Saturday's opening reception runs from 7-10. It sounds like it's going to be a great time!
