Today, Secret Base brought some Halloween cheer to indie toy trick or treaters. Customers at the shop were given a free toy with any purchase. The figure is a nice classic Obake with unpainted grey body and flocked candy corn colored sheet.

Custom Mecha Manotour by Todd Robertson
At the recent NYCC, Todd Robertson released a glorious custom Manotour (a Rampage toys figure) which received Todd's mecha virus treatment. The figure was sold at the show to a lucky collector.
Here are a bunch of really nice pics of the figure which Todd sent over.

Shikaruna studio video: painting with masks + store visit
Here's a video I shot at the Shikaruna studio. In this video, traditional paint masks are being used to spray the Shikaruna Oni figure. I was astonished to learn that there are around FORTY masks for this one figure. That's a huge up front cost, as paint masks are meticulously hand-made by master craftsmen using high quality materials. It can cost $150-$200 or more for a single mask.
After watching some painting from different angles, I look inside the studio/shop to look at some of the figures on display, for sale, and in various stages of development.
The video is in HD, so make sure to expand it to full-screen to see all the details.

Miles Nielsen Kickstarter Project!
Miles Nielsen - Munktiki's Clayju master - is part of Beardo Games - a two-man team putting together an iPhone and iPad game called Crumb Catcher.
The object of the game is to use combinations of food to get as many crumbs as possible stuck in their beards. Reminds me - I had lunch with a dude a while back who would score heavy in a Real Beards of Boston reality show....
The game even has some monster beardos!
They're using Kickstarter to get the project funded. Only 15 days to go, so click here to head over, check it out, and if you like what you see, kickstart a few bucks their way. I did - not for any rewards (I declined to receive any goodies), but to help the boys get their project going.
Good luck guys!
