Recently at the Design Festa Gallery in Harajuku, Sunguts and some friends put on a three-day show, featuring figures, paintings, stationery, and other art related to character design.

Gargamel's The Thrashout Show

Today's event - The Thrashout Show - may be the final custom show held at Gargamel's flagship store before it closes permanently in January. There were fewer people on hand than I expected, but with the number of customs available, everyone who showed up had a shot at a custom Deathra, Mibora, or Zagoran.

Todd Robertson custom Max Toy micro Eyezons

Todd Robertson has done a small run of Micro Eyezons, featuring his mecha virus technique. Considering the Eyezons are about 1.5 inches tall, that must not have been easy! The figures have a nice metallic paint color and precisely painted super-micro eyes.

It's a very small run, and the figures are $90 each. They're up for sale now on the Max Toy webstore.

New Dehara sofubi figure: Neko Obasan

New from Dehara: Neko Obasan, whose official translation is Old Cat Woman. Articulated adult + mini sofubi figures produced by the Fort crew. These are sofubi test pulls.

Incidentally, since this figure was being produced as I was putting together my next Clutter article (which should be out soon), the piece will contain a lot of pics + explanation of the figure's development process, including the sculpt, silicon molds, wax, etc.

From the big box to the shipping box to your mail box....MKs away!

Monster Karas are shipping this week. I'm 3/5 of the way done!

Blobpus GID Ollie Enma Pre-order

Blobpus has just posted ordering details for the new GID Blobpus Ollie Enma. International shipping is available, and payment is via Paypal. This is the 2nd release of the figure and a great opportunity for sofubi fans to pick up a Kaji-san handpaint!

The figure is 13,800 yen + shipping. The pre-order window is open until Dec 20. Note this is NOT an "open" order. Kaji-san is only painting a fixed number of these, and as he notes on the blog, he will either close the ordering window early or choose buyers via lottery if orders surpass the fixed number. So I wouldn't sit on the fence with this one, in case the window closes early.

2000 Collectable Toys shop revisit

This is one of Tokyo's best indy toy shops - and maybe the best if you're into American toys from the 1970s-80s. The staff are very friendly, and the stock is regularly replenished (something that can't be said for a lot of stores!) For store info and a full-write up of my first report on the shop, click here.

And here are pics from my recent shop visit:

Bootleg Bonanza...c'est si bon...

A disturbing line. There's a tag that says the cassette does not include MJ's voice hah hah!

The Last Pachisummit 最後のパチモンサミット

Today was something of a bittersweet day. For the last 7 years, Pachisummit has been one of the most unique stops on the indy toy show circuit. Where else could you learn about vintage bootleg toys, eat and drink pretty good bar fare, get free toy lottery prizes, and buy exclusive toys? Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Alas, today's Pachisummit was the last of its kind. The organizers said the main reason for ending the show is because they've already shown off their whole collection of bootleg figures. Here's hoping they'll build the collection and start the show up again down the line.

Paul Kaiju x Real Head Chaos Carrion

Yesterday at Shinto Gangu, RxH revealed Chaos Carrion (for display only, for now). The mashup features a Chaos Beast head and Boss Carrion body + arms. No decision yet on when these will be released. I think it's a really fun new mashup and proves yet again how versatile and timeless the Chaos sculpt is. It's the first Boss Carrion production release mashup I've seen. Looking forward to more!

Monster Kara Final Update: Shipping news!

I just received the final batch of painted Monster Karas last night. That means Irene and I can get to attaching all the headers, packing the figures and prints, and shipping them out! I needed to wait for all the figures to come in, since I'm going to do my best to make sure that people who ordered multiple figures will get a nice variety of head sculpts.

The packages will start start shipping on Monday, and it will take me about a week to get everyone's order out. After I ship each package, I'll send out an e-mail notice to let you know it's on the way. Thanks again for your patience. We're just about there. :o)
