Vintage Japanese Lenticular Cards

I'm a big fan of old ephemera from Japan: paper items, menko cards, records, etc. One very fun type is lenticular cards, which were popular back in the day. Here's a video I shot of a number of vintage Japanese lenticulars, including a couple of really unique items.

You always share the coolest things from Japan, Andy! I will be traveling around Japan in late April for the first time. Any recommendations on where to go thrift/secondhand shopping for vintage toys?

Thanks! There are fewer and fewer shops in Tokyo, but if you hit up the standard areas: Nakano and Akihabara, there are plenty of shops and interesting things to see. You might also Google "Tokyo flea markets" and see what's going on. I don't frequent any, but they're pretty popular with the locals. Have a great trip!

Hi, Andy. My husband saw this post on lenticular cards and he's trying to track down a set of cards that were sold in San Francisco in the 70's. They were made by Wonder and he thinks they were drawn by the same artist that did your record cards. (Very cool, BTW.) Do you know anything about those cards? They were rectangular, large cut and on thick stock and were a number of cards in a set, but he's not sure how many. I'd like to be able to find the set for him someday as a present. :) Anything you can tell me is likely more than I already know. Thank you!
