Itokin Park Robby Water Gun Prototype

Development of Robby, one of Itokin Park's new figures with Kuso Vinyl, is coming along nicely. The figure is currently in the production mold process stage. Here are a few prototype images of Robby's water gun. (Click each image to see its full size.)

I always find the toy development process really interesting, so I love being able to post pics like this. (This is the first time they've been shown publicly.)

Popsoda Visit

Today I visited my good buddy Hossy at Popsoda. If anyone is in Osaka, make sure to stop by!

It's in Amerika Mura (Shinsaibashi), just across from the Triangle Park. The store sells a variety of modern and vintage toys from the US (like Ninja Turtles, Smurfs, etc) clothing, and of course original Popsoda and other sofubi.

It's been a GREAT stay in Tokyo. I've really enjoyed attending toy shows, hanging out with old friends, making new ones, and setting up more cool new Kaiju Korner exclusives (more on those in the weeks & months to come!)

Alas time flies and I'll be rollin' on in a few hours. I'll be taking the good 'ol highway bus to Kansai. Unfortunately, Charactics has closed, as has my favorite tamago don joint, but there's plenty of other great food, and I'll try to find some good toy info to report during the few days that I'm in Osaka. One place I'm really looking forward to visiting is the US Toys shop. ^_^

Mini Standing Hedoran has always been one of my favorite Gargamel toys. Here's a beautiful new one-off by Kiyoka. I'm very stoked to be taking this fellow back to Taiwan!

Design Festa 29: Day 1 Report

There's no other event quite like Design Festa. It's a little bit of everything thrown into a blender and served with a side of pickles. With that in mind, onto the report!

Design Festa is held at the Big Site, one of the few venues large enough for such a massive event. There are hundreds (maybe more) of exhibitors displaying everything from postcards to leather goods to handmade clothing. On top of that, there are artists doing live installations, performance artists, bands, grown men dressed as pandas...Enough blab, onto the pics!

A few sofubi and resin makers make it to the event every year.
