Star Wars x Lotte Bikkuriman Special Edition set with prizes!

Lotte has just released its third wave of Star Wars Bikkuriman stickers. This is labeled the "Special Edition" series. Original trilogy purists can rest easy. There's no Jabba in the hanger deck, CG alien singers, or Greedo shooting first. The set is basically a medley of the six movies that have come out, with a number of interesting monochrome and gold designs added in.

Like the previous Star Wars Bikkuriman sets, there are two packaging variants:

Here's the complete set of 24 stickers:
Bikkuriman sticker collecting is so popular in Japan that not only have they made specially sized plastic sheets to hold 12 or 20 stickers, but you can even get individual sleeves for single stickers. It's a hardcore area of collecting, and rare stickers can fetch hundreds of dollars.

Here's a look at some of the unique design types.
And now for the really cool part:
Another unique twist in this set is the insertion of prize cards. They say "Atari" on the back in Japanese. (Side note: I wonder if that's the origin of the video game cosole's name.) You can then send the sticker in to get one of six prize sticker sheets. Mail aways are alive and well! Now, these winner stickers are very difficult to get. I'm not sure what the exact ratio of normal to winner stickers is, but I do know for certain that even if you buy a complete, sealed box of 30 packs, there's no guarantee that there will be a winner inside. I was fortunate enough to pull one (yay!), and now I have to decide if I'm going to keep the sticker or send it in for a prize.
Collecting Bikkuriman stickers is fun, and the timing for this promotion is perfect with the movie just a week away!

  1. I'm still on the fence. I believe the prize is just a sticker of an image from the movie. There's tons of time to send it in, so I'll wait and see what the potential prizes are first. :)
